Maslow’s pyramid of hierarchy of needs for childhood
Physical needs- physically the child will need support but not as much as an infant, the child can start to make there own decisions but must be supported by their care. To be reach physical pyramid they must be able to eat the foods required for them they must have all the nutrients in order to help them grow, shelter obviously the child itself cannot provide shelter and so as there main carer they must do this for them. Clothing again a child cannot get clothing but they can make the choice of what clothes they want to wear. Warmth is provided by the care worker.
Safety and security- in order for the child to reach the next life stage it must be able be protected as the child is not fully aware of the danger of life they must be protected until maturity starts to react, the child must feel secure with there parents and the child must be financially secure the parent again is responsible for this.
Social needs- communication is very important for a child we must communicate in order for them to tell us how they are feeling, they will become sociable at a very young age as they will start to build relationship with friends and will start to have feeling, children must be shown love and affection it is very important that the child becomes emotional and is able to talk to us whenever they want.
Self esteem- although the child is at a very young age they will feel a sense of belonging in themselves they will feel a sense of achievement because they can simple add or play with others they must be praised and encouraged.
Self actualisation- in order to reach self actualisation all of the other sections of the maslow pyramid must be reached, they need hobbies and interests
