At this stage, children are learning how to develop independence. children tend to grow very rapidly at this stage they are starting to develop greater gross and fine motor skills, but in order to do these things they need an adequate diet they need the right vitamins and minerals as they are more active they are more dependent and can start to some things themselves such they are in charge of their personal hygiene like washing their hands an face and brushing their teeth. Children are more active at this age and therefore need more sleep than usual. Children are more skilful and physically developed. Children at this age there body are changing shape getting ready for puberty.
intellectual needs
As children aged 4-10 are at there peak of intellectual stimulation, they are learning rapidly. As you get older your able to understand things you cant see for example if you ask a child to count pieces of pizza then they haven’t actually got the pizza but they imagine it in their head. they will be learning intellectually through school b using numbers in increasingly complex ways, but learning must be reinforced constantly with children as they are at their peak of learning and will need to be showing aids as they don’t have a good logic memory but by showing them picture they will understand it more clearly. They are capable of expressing themselves well verbally at this stage they are beginning to, many kids are quite comfortable with their ability to produce intelligent ideas an arguments with they parents and this is simple because they think they have so much knowledge than elders. Their are many influences in a child intellectual development one being the educational television. School, peers etc.
emotional needs
Children are more emotionally developed at this age as they are learning to make new friends they are learning that sometimes they are not, they are beginning to feel abit of self awareness, they are at this age becoming more independent and so they are loosening the bond between them and the carer, they are starting to be aware others feelings they start to feel hurt and build important relationships with people. Children at this age are more vulnerable as they stat to feel hurt, hey start realising what’s good and bad.
social needs
Kids at this age tend to be more sociable as they are interacting with other kids everyday this is helping to develop skills such as making friends, or knowing different peoples attitudes, friendships tend to be most important bat this age, your child seems to be more independent and so they are putting more effort too their group of friends. From 5+ children are playing complex cooperative play.
