Maslow hierarchy needs of elderly
Physical needs- the basic needs for an elderly person again is essential water, shelter, warmth, food, clothes and although an elder person is an adult, some of them are unable to provide this for themselves and so they need a care worker to help with these essential things.
Safety and security- As elders are more vulnerable they tend to be on there own and can sometimes be a target for criminals, and also as they have a pension and earned all there money they may be a target, an elderly person may be very financially secure due to saving and pension and so they must Make sure that the money id=sn in sight, but an adult must feel safe a secure in order to reach self actualisation and sometimes this doesn’t happen.
Social needs- elderly people may find it hard to socialise and so there are many ways in which they can meet new people by going to bingo and playing hobbies, elderly people may feel isolated because they have mo companion an elderly person must be able to feel all these things in order to reach self actualisation.
Self esteem- an elder must be able to feel a sense of belonging and a sense of achievement they may feel his by reminding them of their old job. They msut feel respected by others
Self actualisation- in order to reach self actualisation the elder must be able to fulfil hobbies and have abit of self fulfilment.
