The ageing process is very subtle at this life stage, and the changes are slow, if you’re with the person often you will not notice the change. However by mid 60's the changes are more noticeable physically. Their skin becomes thinner and less elasticised wrinkles also appear, bones become more brittle and more likely to break, joints become stiffer and more painful. height is reduced and the spin may become rounded, also muscles become weaker. Their balance becomes impaired, taste and smell deteriorates. Hearing and sight start to fail, blood pressure can increase, the glands do not function so well, and they are more prone to health risk and infections. It is very important that the individuals get the many needs such as convenient health and leisure facilities, sometimes many elderly people tend to need help from a care worker.
SOCIAL NEEDS
Usually at this is age if a individual has had kids the kids have probably moved out and got a job and so they can spend there days doing things they have always wanted to do providing that they stay healthy and able. There are many sociable activity that an elderly person can do they can go for walks, they can play bingo, they can do many things they have always wanted to. By doing this they will be able to make more friends through formal activities. They will have more time on their hands and possibly more money, as they will have paid their mortgage of.
INTELLECTUAL NEEDS
Elderly people still have many intellectual needs. Just because they are growing in years does not mean they can no longer grow and learn new things as well, the elderly is essential to communication with others as they may feel isolated and vulnerable. Sometimes in later adulthood the person is less intellectual this is because they have probably retired at 65 and have been out of education and skill development for such a long time. but there are many ways in which we can maintain our intellectual they could go to night class watch educational TV if they are very immobile they could read paper and magazines.

Emotionally this is a very important time for an elderly person at this stage in their life they may have lost many friends and are finding it hard to make new friends they may feel isolated because of this. Elderly are very vulnerable they are at risks of crime and attack they reason for this is probably because they are less able than other or stronger. They may feel depressed because there life has lost there routine and it begins to stop so they feel as sense of unbelonging, at this is aged they may worry about there health issues as they are more vulnerable to infection
